The local time is a time determined for the given place on the Earth; it depends on the geographical longitude of the place and is the same for all points on the meridian. In everyday life the local time is often wrongly called zone time (or standart time).

How to calculate the local time in Russia.

For each place of Russia being on the longitude l it is possible to indicate the true local solar time Ti; the local medium solar time MT; the local zone time Tp; the winter season time Tw; the summer season time Ts; the local star time S. Here are the formulas for those who need to transform one time into another:

ÌÒ = Òi + h,

ÌÒ = UT + l,

Òp = UT + n,

Òw = UT + n + 1÷,

Òs = UT + n + 2÷,

S =s + MT (approximately),

where h - is an equation of time; n- the number of time zone, s - the star time in Greenwich midnight (the table of star time is given in astronomic calendars):

It is interesting to calculate when the real midday will being according the winter or summer time. The longitude of Moscow l is equal 2/h 30 min. The medium solar midday is 12 o’clock of the local time (MT). It is corresponding UT = 12 h - 2 h 30 min = 9 h 30min of the universal world time according Moscow winter time - 12 h 30 min, according Moscow summer time - 13 h 30 min.
