Nickolai Copernic: "making the Sun stop, pushing the Earth".

Nickolai CopernicNickolai Copernic (1473 - 1543) - an outstanding Polish astronomer of the XVI century, who was able to convince people that they lived not in the safe and stable centre of Universe, but on one of the planets rotating around the Sun.

The aim of Copernic's investigations is improving the calculating schemes. Taking into consideration the forecoming experience he desided to complete heliocentric system. In heliocentric system appeared an opportunity of calculating real proportions of Solar system using the radius of the Earth's orbits as an astronomical unit.

Copernic's book "About Rotation of Celestial Bodies" contains a discription of astronomical devices as well as a new more exact catalogue of stable stars. A visible movement of the Sun, of the Moon and of the planets is discussed there. But this system occured not very exact and only Kepler and Newton would make it exact.

In 1514 Copernic was observing the sky in order to verify a year duration, which amounted 365 days, 5 hours, 45 minutes and 16 seconds (he was mistaken only on 28 seconds).

He proclaimed a new era in astronomy and not only there.
